Wimbledon: No Luck for Federico Cinà

No main draw at Wimbledon for the young Italian talent Federico Cinà. The 19-year-old from Palermo, born in 2007, was defeated in the second round of qualifying for the London Grand Slam by the experienced Frenchman Hugo Gaston, a former world No. 58 who has now slipped out of the top 100.

The 25-year-old Frenchman won in two sets, 7-5, 6-4, advancing to the third and final round of qualifying. Cinà, who had won his first Challenger title in the spring, was coming off an encouraging second-round appearance at the 2026 French Open, where he became the youngest Italian ever to win a match at the Paris Grand Slam.

However, the London grass proved too much for Cinà, who was unable to find a way to surprise his more experienced opponent, who proved to be more solid than the Italian, currently ranked 180th in the ATP rankings.

The Sicilian will now quickly turn the page and prepare for his upcoming matches: his next goal is to break into the top 100 of the ATP rankings.
