Juventus Transfer Market: Miretti Could End Up at a Longtime Rival

Fiorentina has taken the lead in the race to sign Fabio Miretti. The midfielder, born in 2003 and not part of Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti’s plans, has long been on the Viola’s radar, and after initial exploratory talks, the Tuscan club has decided to step up its pursuit.

Juventus, which does not seem willing to lower its asking price for such a young player, values him at around 14 million euros—a figure considered excessive by Bologna, which has consequently slowed down the negotiations.

This is not entirely new for Miretti, whose name was already circulating persistently during the last winter transfer window. At the time, Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio was the most serious suitor, desperately seeking reinforcements in midfield, while Juventus had already made it clear that it would not oppose a transfer if an offer deemed reasonable were to arrive. Spalletti, while believing in the young midfielder’s qualities, had been unable to find a way to integrate him permanently into the starting lineup.

Fiorentina, however, is not the only club to have set its sights on the 2003-born player. In recent weeks, Cesc Fabregas’s Como had also tested the waters for Miretti, adding him to a list of Italian targets needed to comply with UEFA squad regulations. The Como side, set to compete in one of the European competitions next season, is required to field at least four players who came up through the Italian youth system and is looking for quality players who are already ready for that level.

So, there’s no shortage of competition. But Fiorentina seems to have beaten everyone to the punch, presenting itself as the most concrete and well-structured destination for the Juventus midfielder. In the coming weeks, it will become clear whether Juventus is willing to lower its financial demands to facilitate the deal, or whether it will instead stand firm on its valuation, risking a further delay in a transfer that now seems inevitable.
