Transfer Market, Sandro Tonali: His Departure from Newcastle Is Getting Closer and Closer

Sandro Tonali’s future seems increasingly unlikely to be with Newcastle United. For weeks, the Italian midfielder’s situation has been the focus of discussion within the Magpies’ camp, and now reports coming out of England paint a clear picture: Tonali is seriously considering leaving St. James’ Park, though he intends to remain in the Premier League.
The first club to make a decisive move was Tottenham, which has already submitted two offers for the player, both of which were rejected. According to Sky Sports UK, however, the midfielder’s decision is final: Tonali is ready to sign with the Spurs, and the two clubs involved are continuing to work toward a definitive agreement. The prospect of working with Roberto De Zerbi and a contract worth nearly double his current 7 million earned on the banks of the Tyne are very strong incentives.
Newcastle, specifically, continues to ask for a fee close to 115 million euros, while Tottenham has reportedly gone as high as 100 million so far. However, the recent blockbuster transfer of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for 135 million could strengthen the Magpies’ negotiating position. Meanwhile, the signals coming from the Juventus camp all point in the same direction: Tonali seems set on a change of scenery. The club has already begun looking for potential replacements, with the names of Lamine Camara and Arthur Atta making their way onto the management’s list.
Born in 2000, Sandro Tonali took his first steps as a soccer player at Lombardia Uno, an amateur club affiliated with Milan, before continuing his youth career with Piacenza and Brescia. He made his professional debut with the Rondinelle, then moved to Milan in 2020 and played a key role in winning the Scudetto during the 2021–2022 season. In the summer of 2023, he transferred to Newcastle for 70 million: with the Magpies, Tonali played for three seasons, winning a Carabao Cup in 2024–2025 and cementing his place on the national team.
