Inter Transfer Market: After Provedel, It’s Time for a Center Back—Two Favorites, but an Underdog Remains in the Background

Inter is stepping up its activity in the summer transfer market, especially when it comes to the back line. Following a positive meeting with Ivan Provedel’s agents, negotiations for the Lazio goalkeeper are now down to the fine details: a signing appears imminent, and Inter is preparing to finalize the first piece of its plan to strengthen the squad.
With the goalkeeper situation nearing completion, management has shifted its focus to the center-back position. The top names on the list are Trevoh Chalobah and Oumar Solet: for the Chelsea center back, there is already a general agreement with the player, but an agreement between the two clubs has yet to be reached; the London club, in fact, has already rejected a previous offer from Como and does not intend to sell its player at a discount.
The situation with Solet is different: Udinese values the Frenchman at no less than 30 million euros, a figure Inter considers high, although there is room for negotiation. Discussions are ongoing, and it’s not out of the question that a more sustainable deal could be worked out in the coming days, even if the plan remains to avoid getting caught up in a bidding war.
In the background, however, there is also a surprise name that has emerged in recent days: Joel Ordoñez, a defender for Club Brugge and a key player for Ecuador at the 2026 World Cup. He is a young (born in 2004), athletic player with a promising future, who is valued for his ability to adapt to multiple roles in the back line.
