Jannik Sinner Shares a Fun Behind-the-Scenes Story About Siglinde and Hanspeter at Wimbledon: “I gave it a try…”

Jannik Sinner spoke at a press conference after his victory at Wimbledon against Jenson Brooksby, analyzing his performance as follows: “I think we’re trying to gradually raise our level, day by day. Even in practice, we’re focusing a lot on all aspects of the game. Today was a small step forward, and that was the important thing.”
“The next match will be different because I don’t know my opponent—I’ve never played against him or practiced with him—so we’ll see how it goes. But surely the important thing will once again be to gradually raise the level.”
Sinner shared an anecdote about his mom, Siglinde, and dad, Hanspeter: “Last Monday, for my debut, my parents had been invited to attend from the Royal Box, but I know them. I tried and asked them, but for them it’s impossible. So there wasn’t much discussion about it… They have other things to do, too, so I get it.”
On mental challenges: “If you’re always thinking about the past, you can’t move forward. I’m playing very calmly. We’ve trained very well, and that’s what we’ve done: personally, I can’t do any more than that.” More on Mochizuki: “I’ve seen him play. He’s an excellent player, and especially on grass, his shots stay very low—which helps him a lot—and he also seems like a very aggressive player. We’ll see what happens: we’ve never trained together and we’ve never faced each other, so we’ll see. But above all, I’m trying to focus on my side of the court, and I know that right now, that’s the most important thing,” according to Eurosport.
