Kimi Antonelli beats Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton

Kimi Antonelli secured a historic pole position in qualifying at Silverstone, ahead of the two Ferraris driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. It had been since 1953 that an Italian driver (Alberto Ascari) had started from pole position on this track. AKA clocked a time of 1 minute, 28 seconds, and 111 thousandths, with a lead of 175 thousandths over Leclerc and 347 over Sir Lewis. George Russell, on the other hand, will have to settle for the second row.
Occupying the middle row of the grid (the sixth) are Gabriel Bortoleto, behind the wheel of the fastest Audi, and Pierre Gasly in the fastest Mercedes-powered Alpine. Right behind them are Nico Hülkenberg (Audi) and Oliver Bearman, who posted the strongest performance among the Haas cars powered by Ferrari power units.
The eighth row is occupied by the two upgraded (but evidently not yet quite there) Williams FW48s driven by Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon. Starting from the inside of the ninth row will be Esteban Ocon in the Haas (the first driver eliminated from Q1), flanked on the outside by Valtteri Bottas in the Cadillac powered by Ferrari. The tenth row goes to Franco Colapinto (Alpine), who jeopardized his chances with a spin late in Q1, and to Sergio Pérez in the other Cadillac.
