The departures continue at Armani Olimpia Milano. This time it’s Quinn Ellis, one of last season’s brightest spots. After just one year in red and white, the British point guard is set to embark on a new adventure at St. John’s University in the NCAA.
Here is the official statement from Armani Olimpia Milano: “Olimpia Milano has accepted Quinn Ellis’s decision to continue his development with an experience in the United States at St. John’s University. Olimpia wishes Quinn all the best for the upcoming season.
During his season in Milan, Eillis helped the team win the Italian Super Cup and was named the tournament’s MVP. He hit the buzzer-beating three-pointer that tied the semifinal against Bologna, a game the team went on to win. He finished the tournament averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He also contributed to the team’s victory in the Italian Cup, averaging 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game during the Final Eight. Finally, he helped Olimpia win the league title, finishing the season with an average of 6.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game in 38 appearances, 36 of which were as a starter.”
Official announcements regarding several new signings are now also expected. The next one could involve Italian big man Nicola Akele, who, after two seasons with Virtus Bologna, is ready to get back in the game wearing the Milan jersey.
