“Old” Roma Is Looking for a Point Guard in Milan and Is Considering a Former Fortitudo Player

After last season’s bitter ending—with promotion to A2 that seemed within reach but ultimately slipped away—Virtus Roma has reportedly already begun making moves in the transfer market ahead of the 2026–2027 season, setting its sights on two standout players from the second division.
According to reports from Quinto Quarto, the Rome-based club is interested in Urania Milano point guard Andrea Amato and Croatian wing Toni Perkovic, who is coming off a stint with Fortitudo Bologna following his time in Forlì.
Having come up through the Olimpia Milano youth system and also played for Varese and Verona, Amato has spent the last four seasons with Wegreenit Urania Milano, finishing the most recent A2 season with an average of 8.5 points and 3.6 assists per game. Perkovic, on the other hand, played for Fortitudo Bologna, averaging 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over the course of the season.
Amato’s tenure with Urania has been long and established: the Milan-born point guard, born in 1994, had already re-signed with the Wildcats in the summer of 2024, cementing his status as a cornerstone of the red-and-blue project. Before settling permanently in Milan, the player took his first steps in the professional ranks with two seasons in Casale Monferrato on loan from Olimpia, before briefly returning to his home club and then playing stints in Pistoia, Varese, and Verona. A career built on patience and consistency, which has led him to become one of the most reliable point guards in Serie A2.
