When Will Jannik Sinner Play at Wimbledon? His Previous Matches Against Struff

For the second time at this year’s Wimbledon (and as happened in last year’s quarterfinals against Ben Shelton), Jannik Sinner will play on Court 1 instead of Center Court. The Italian, who has reached the top eight at the Championships for the fifth consecutive year, will face Jan-Lennard Struff in the first match of the day, starting at 2:00 p.m. Italian time.
For the German, this marks his first career appearance in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam. The two have faced each other three times, with Sinner winning all three matches, including their most recent encounter on grass: in 2024 at the ATP 500 in Halle (a tournament Sinner went on to win), in a very close match decided only in the final-set tiebreak. Sinner is aiming for his third career semifinal at Wimbledon and his second this season at a Grand Slam. In Grand Slam quarterfinals, he has lost five of the fourteen matches he’s played, though all against top-5 opponents. Struff, meanwhile, is currently ranked No. 74 in the ATP rankings.
The match (like the entire tournament) will be broadcast live on Sky Sport and streamed on NOW TV. If he wins, the winner of the Sinner-Struff match will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. The No. 3 and No. 7 seeds will face off in the quarterfinals on Center Court as the second match starting at 2:30 p.m., so around 4:30 p.m.
For Auger-Aliassime, this would be his second quarterfinal at Wimbledon (his first was in 2021, a loss to Matteo Berrettini). For Djokovic, however, this is his fifteenth quarterfinal at the Championships, with only one loss in a completed match, which dates back to 2009 against Tommy Haas. Their head-to-head record is even (1-1), although the Canadian’s victory came at the Laver Cup in 2022. In any case, both trail Sinner in their head-to-head records: 5-2 for Auger-Aliassime and 6-5 for Djokovic.
Rounding out the day are the women’s quarterfinals in the top half of the draw. Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff will open the action on Center Court at 2:30 p.m. The fourth and seventh seeds arrive with different trajectories: Pegula with great consistency and Grand Slam ambitions, while Gauff is making her first quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon but is still on the rise. On Court 1, following the Sinner-Struff match (around 4:30 p.m.), Karolína Muchová and Naomi Osaka will take the court. The Japanese player is coming off a victory over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, while the Czech player is confirming her excellent form. Whoever advances will play in the semifinals on Thursday.
