After strengthening its midfield with the signings of Alessandro Romano, Demi Akarakiri, and Harry Winks, it’s time for Cagliari to turn its attention to the defense. In recent days, the Sardinian club’s management has been discussing Yerry Mina in particular.

The star, who will turn 32 in September, suffered several injuries last season that forced him to miss 10 games between Cagliari and Colombia. On the one hand, there’s his tendency to get injured; on the other, there’s the wealth of experience Mina has gained throughout his career.

Tommaso Giulini, Fabio Pisacane, and Pietro Accardi are torn regarding the defender’s future, and in the meantime, several clubs are closely monitoring how the situation unfolds: Fenerbahçe, São Paulo, and Al-Diriyah are in the running for the center back.

Yerry Mina was the only Cagliari player to compete in the World Cup. Colombia finished first in Group K ahead of Portugal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uzbekistan, then defeated Ghana 1-0 in the Round of 16. The Cafeteros’ World Cup run came to an end in the round of 16, when Switzerland won on penalty kicks.
