Cagliari Transfer Market: All-Rossoblù Battle for Juventus’ Surplus Player

The transfer market for Juventus, which is looking to bounce back after a truly disappointing season, isn’t just about the players the Bianconeri would like to sign. Head coach Luciano Spalletti has provided the club with a list of players to be released: in this regard, Genoa and Cagliari have expressed interest in Vasilije Adzic, the hero of last season’s first-leg “Derby d’Italia.” The Montenegrin, in particular, is highly regarded by Sardinian coach Fabio Pisacane, who will have a midfield at his disposal that is as young as it is fierce.

Adzic’s story with Juventus is that of a talent who remained on the sidelines despite his exceptional qualities: in the season just concluded, the 2006-born player logged just 123 minutes in league play—a negligible amount of playing time that prevented him from consistently showcasing his abilities. Yet Spalletti himself had spoken of him in enthusiastic terms: “There are certain qualities I haven’t seen yet. This job is a bit like being a miner—you don’t find certain things on the surface; you have to go looking for them. I haven’t played the kid much, but I see great footwork, great stamina, and a sturdy build because he can take a beating. I’d like to help him feel a little more at ease during moments in the game when he has the ball at his feet.”

A loan deal could be the key to making the transfer happen, meeting the Sardinian club’s financial needs while allowing Juventus to closely monitor the young Montenegrin’s development.

The Rossoblù aren’t the only ones in the race for Adzic. In addition to Genoa, Lecce and Sassuolo have also stepped forward in recent weeks, demonstrating that the market surrounding the Montenegrin midfielder is anything but quiet. Juventus, after all, has every interest in finding the player a home in Serie A, so it can closely follow his progress while awaiting his eventual return to the squad.

Adzic’s name is also circulating as a possible player exchange in other negotiations being conducted by Juventus. Juventus had included him as a bargaining chip in talks with Udinese regarding Oumar Solet, the French-Ivorian center back valued at around 25 million euros by the Pozzo family: an indication of how Juventus’ management views the young Balkan player as a tradable asset on the market, while remaining vigilant about his future placement.
