Gianni Petrucci wants to get to the bottom of the situation regarding Paul Matiasic and Trieste

Thursday’s FIP Federal Council meeting, convened in Rome by President Gianni Petrucci at the CONI headquarters, could lead to significant developments.

The first concerns Paul Matiasic, former president of Pallacanestro Trieste and a key figure in the deal that brought the Pallacanestro Brescia franchise to Rome, where Maxima Basket was founded. The Rome-based club, which has already signed Miro Bilan and John Brown III, is also closely monitoring Leonardo Totè, a big man born in 1997 who may be leaving Naples once again.

However, the question regarding Matiasic’s role in Trieste remains unresolved. The sale of the Trieste-based club to Newport Holdings LLC has been finalized, but it remains to be confirmed that the California-based attorney no longer holds any influence over the club.

Moreover, the board of directors has not yet been finalized, and the transfer market is essentially at a standstill, with only Ruzzier and Candussi having been confirmed. Deangeli is awaiting further developments, Markel Brown has drawn the interest of other clubs, and the issue regarding the management of the PalaRubini also remains unresolved.

It should be noted that federal regulations prohibit a single entity from controlling two clubs in the same division.
