The twists and turns of the transfer market are endless: Roma has reached an agreement for Rodrigo Mora following lengthy negotiations marked by constant changes in the situation. The breakthrough came after another meeting between sporting director D’Amico and Jorge Mendes, which helped bring the parties back together and bridge the gaps that had emerged in the previous days. Friedkin’s approval of the new proposal presented to Porto was also decisive.

The Portuguese talent, just 19 years old, has been identified as the ideal reinforcement for Gasperini’s attacking midfield, as the coach had long been seeking a player to strengthen that area of the field. Roma had even considered other options, including a possible 40-million offer for Lyon’s Fofana, before the Mora deal was suddenly back on the table.

The agreement with Porto calls for an initial investment of 25 million euros plus bonuses, for a total amount that could approach 30 million. The Portuguese club is also expected to receive 50% of any future resale proceeds, though some details regarding the calculation of this percentage and the bonuses stipulated in the agreement remain to be finalized.

A five-year contract worth approximately 2 million per season is ready for Mora. Roma is working to bring him to the capital as quickly as possible, with the goal of making him available to Gasperini in time for Monday’s league opener.

A deal that had seemed to have fallen through for good was thus reopened within a matter of hours. In the days leading up to this, Porto had rejected the formula proposed by Roma, which was based on a 7 million loan with an option to buy set at 40. Tensions had escalated further following statements by the player’s attorney, who had highlighted Mora’s dissatisfaction with his limited playing time under Farioli.

However, Mendes’s efforts made it possible to devise a different structure: less money guaranteed immediately to Porto compared to the previous proposal, but a very high percentage of any future transfer fee. This solution brought everyone back to the table and definitively brought Rodrigo Mora closer to Roma.
