Juventus Transfer News: Guglielmo Vicario Is the New Goalkeeper—The Exact Details of the Deal

Juventus has officially announced the signing of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham. The Italian national team goalkeeper will replace Michele Di Gregorio as the Bianconeri’s starting goalkeeper, with Mattia Perin serving as his backup.
“New arrival at Juventus: Guglielmo Vicario joins Juventus on loan from Tottenham through June 30, 2027,” reads the statement from the Turin-based club. Born in 1996, Vicario came up through Udinese’s youth system before playing for Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari, and Empoli, for whom he made 69 Serie A appearances—after making his top-flight debut with the Sardinian club—thus establishing himself as one of the league’s best goalkeepers. In 2023, he moved to Tottenham, where he played 117 matches and won the 2024–25 Europa League, before embarking on this new adventure at Juventus.”
Juventus has also released details of the deal with the Premier League club: Vicario arrives on loan through June 30, 2027, with an option to buy set at 8 million euros. The fee may be increased by an additional 2 million euros through performance-based bonuses.
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur FC for the temporary acquisition, on a free transfer, of the playing rights of soccer player Guglielmo Vicario through June 30, 2027. The agreement also provides Juventus with the option to acquire the player’s sporting rights on a permanent basis. The agreed-upon fee for any permanent acquisition is €8 million; this fee may be increased, during the term of the player’s contract, by an amount not exceeding €2 million, upon the achievement of certain targets.”
