Qatar 2022, Enner Valencia signs first World Cup goal
Enner Valencia signs first Qatar 2022 goal
It is a reward for perseverance to score the first goal of the Qatar 2022 World Cup: it was scored, in the 16th minute of the debut match of the rainbow review between the hosts and Ecuador, by Enner Valencia, a 33-year-old striker in the Fenerbahce team, on a penalty kick awarded by Italian referee Orsato for a foul by goalkeeper Al Sheeb on the Ecuadorian player himself.
Valencia himself had gone into the net, on an action, not even three minutes after the kickoff: the Var, however, had intervened immediately afterwards, and with the help of the technology that regulates semi-automatic offside had nullified the scoring.
Qatar and Ecuador are in Group A of the event: the other two pretenders in the group, which like all the others promotes two to the round of 16, are the Netherlands and Senegal.
