The BTS Arena in Trento is once again decked out in blue. Following yesterday’s 88-76 victory by the women’s national team over China, the men’s Italbasket team also defeated Estonia by a decisive 83-61 margin to claim the 12th edition of the Trentino Basket Cup. For Italy, this marks the eleventh victory in the tournament, with only one loss.

It was a game of two halves that wrapped up the training camp between Folgaria and Trento and allowed the Azzurri to continue their preparations ahead of the fourth qualifying window for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. After a closely contested first half, which ended 39-37 in favor of Luca Banchi’s team, Italy shifted gears in the second half, going on a devastating 25-6 run in the third quarter that sealed the game’s outcome.

The top scorer of the evening was Simone Fontecchio, who scored 21 points. Tommaso Baldasso also reached double digits, finishing with 16 points. At the end of the game, Aquila Basket Trento President Luigi Longhi named Fontecchio the game’s MVP, while Michele Brugnara, Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and the Environment for the City of Trento, presented Italy with the trophy for winning the 12th Trentino Basket Cup.

The Italian women’s national team was also present in the stands at the BTS Arena, in front of approximately 3,500 spectators. Following yesterday’s victory over China, the Azzurre repeated their success in today’s closed-door friendly, winning by a score of 81–57.
