MotoGp post Valentino Rossi: for Carmelo Ezpeleta, the wind has turned
Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta said he was pleased with the growth of the public in Valencia
Dorna CEO and MotoGP boss Carmelo Ezpeleta rejoiced at the growth of the crowd at the last World Championship race in Valencia. In the first year without Valentino Rossi, the MotoGP premier class has seen sharp declines at historic tracks such as Portimao, Mugello, Montmeló and Silverstone, but for Ezpeleta the trend is changing.
“Valencia has been a very good event,” he told Speedweek, “and on the Monday after the end of the World Championship, 35 percent of the tickets for 2023 have already been sold. Among the most successful tracks in terms of attendance was the Sachsenring in Germany, where a total of more than 230,000 spectators arrived over the weekend. “We can make it even more attractive, with the new sprint races we have set on Saturday…,” explained Ezpeleta, who is banking heavily on Saturday’s mini-races to increase interest.
