Roma Transfer Market: A Bid for a Juventus Target. Gasp Has Already Coached Him

Roma has entered the race for Franck Kessié and is trying to throw a wrench in Juventus’ plans. The Ivorian midfielder, identified by the Bianconeri as one of their top targets to bolster the midfield, has reportedly also caught the eye of the Giallorossi, who are seeking an experienced and physically imposing player to round out their midfield. Before making a move, however, Roma will need to free up space by offloading at least one player.

Gian Piero Gasperini knows the player very well, having coached him at Atalanta during the 2016–17 season. It was under his guidance that the Ivorian midfielder, still very young at the time, managed to establish himself in Serie A, earning an important role in the Nerazzurri lineup. His performances then caught the attention of Milan, which brought him to the Rossoneri in the summer of 2017.

Juventus, however, remains in the lead. Kessié is said to have already reached an agreement with the Bianconeri on a three-year contract worth approximately 4.5 million euros per season. In Turin, he would also be reunited with Ricky Massara, the executive with whom he worked during his time at Milan. His arrival would give Luciano Spalletti greater tactical flexibility: the Ivorian can play multiple roles in midfield and could also facilitate the switch to a 4-3-3 formation, one of the options being considered to address Kenan Yildiz’s prolonged absence.

To move quickly on the Kessié front, however, Juventus must make room on the roster. A first step is the departure of Fabio Miretti, who is now close to joining Besiktas. The midfielder, born in 2003, after being scouted by Lazio and also attracting interest from Bologna and Parma, has given the green light to his transfer to Turkey.
