Juventus: Jannik Sinner Shows Up at Practice—His Remarks to the Bianconeri and Spalletti’s Message

Jannik Sinner visits Juventus. The world No. 1, who was in Turin for physical therapy sessions on his right knee at the J Medical clinic, took the opportunity to visit the Bianconeri’s training center and meet Luciano Spalletti and his team.

Sinner, who had previously accepted the Tuscan coach’s invitation when Spalletti was head coach of the Italian national team, was warmly welcomed by the players, who thanked him and embraced him. Videos released by Juventus captured part of the speech the Italian national team player gave to the Bianconeri players: “The result is a consequence of the choices made on the field.”

Spalletti himself praised the champion from Sesto Pusteria, urging his players to follow his example: “No one knows how to turn a match around when things get tough like you do.” Also present to meet Sinner was Kenan Yildiz, who will be sidelined for several months due to an injury to his left foot.

Sinner’s visit to J Medical is part of a rehabilitation program that has been ongoing for weeks. According to reports, the problem with his right knee is believed to be inflammation without structural damage, which may have flared up again in late July when the South Tyrolean resumed training after the break following his Wimbledon triumph. He has been ordered to take a complete break from tennis this week, with his return to training tentatively scheduled for around September 6.

The long absence from the tour inevitably weighs on Sinner, who has been forced to skip the Masters 1000 tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati and, most recently, the U.S. Open. The player himself expressed his deep regret in the official statement: “Despite the hard work done with my team and the medical staff, we had to make the difficult decision not to participate in this year’s U.S. Open. We returned to training in Monte Carlo in recent days and realized we need more time to recover from the issue with my right knee. I am obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York holds a special place in my heart.”

The goal remains to return to competition at the Beijing tournament, scheduled for September 30, with the ATP Finals in Turin as the major end-of-season milestone. It’s an ambitious schedule, considering that Sinner hasn’t played since winning the Wimbledon final against Alexander Zverev, but it seems achievable if his recovery proceeds as planned. Earlier this year, before his hiatus, the world No. 1 had racked up a string of extraordinary results: five consecutive Masters 1000 titles (Miami, Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome) and his second consecutive title on the grass courts of London.
