From 2023 there will be a Leclerc in Formula 2
From next year there will be a Leclerc in Formula 2: he is Arthur, brother of Charles. The 22-year-old has accepted the DAMS team’s proposal: “Arthur Leclerc, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will join DAMS for the FIA Formula 2 2023 championship, with the 22-year-old moving to the series after two seasons in the FIA Formula championship,” the statement reads.
Leclerc will take part in F2 post-season testing with DAMS at the Yas Marina circuit from Nov. 23-25. The 2023 F2 season will begin in Bahrain in March, with the 14-round schedule including a first visit to Melbourne in April.
Brother of F1 champion Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque driver first competed in a single-seater in 2018, finishing fifth in the French F4 championship before a solid season to take third in the ADAC Formula 4 championship the following year. Moving into the European Formula Regional championship in 2020, Leclerc scored six wins and 12 podiums while grabbing second place in the standings.
Moved to the FIA Formula 3 championship last year, Leclerc triumphed in his rookie season with wins at Le Castellet and Zandvoort. He got 2022 off to a great start by capturing the Formula Regional Asian Championship in February before scoring his third F3 victory in the Feature Race at Silverstone in July.
