Carrara Transfer Market: Semuel Pizzignacco Joins from Monza

In a statement, Monza announced that Semuel Pizzignacco is joining Carrarese on loan through June 30, 2027. The goalkeeper, born in 2001, has also extended his contract with AC Monza through June 30, 2029. Having arrived in Brianza in the summer of 2024, Pizzignacco has made 10 Serie A appearances for the Biancorossi: his most recent came last Saturday at the “Meazza” against Inter, in a match won 4-1 by the Italian champions led by Cristian Chivu. On the opening day of the Serie B season, the Tuscan side suffered a home loss to Mantova, and in the second round they will face newly promoted Ascoli on the road.

At the top of Monza’s list is Noel Törnqvist, a Swedish goalkeeper born in 2002 who was acquired from Como in 2025 and then loaned to Mjällby, where he helped the team win the league title. Como is considering another temporary transfer, and Monza has entered the race in earnest. Törnqvist is also known for the protective helmet he has worn since the age of 16, a decision he made after hitting his head against a goalpost: since then, he has refused to go without it, taking inspiration from his idol Petr Čech, and at the same time, to put his mother’s mind at ease.

On the other hand, interest in Jacob Zetterström—the Swedish goalkeeper born in 1998 who plays for Derby County and was recently seen between the posts for the Swedish national team at the World Cup—has cooled significantly, as he now appears to be a much more difficult target to secure. The need to make changes in goal had been strongly emphasized by head coach Ivan Juric himself following the loss to Inter: “The team needs to be rounded out in various positions on the field. I expect a great deal from the transfer market; if we want to avoid relegation, we must make moves in every position.”

For Carrarese, meanwhile, the Pizzignacco signing is a move aimed at plugging an obvious gap following their opening-day loss to Mantova. The Tuscan side, tied with seven other teams at zero points after this first matchday of Serie B, will face an away match tomorrow against Ascoli, a far from easy opponent: the Marche-based team, newly promoted from Serie C, has already proven its worth by staging a comeback victory over Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi Stadium with goals from Silipo and D’Uffizi, bringing their total to three points in the standings.
