Brescia Gives Trieste a Run for Its Money
Encouraging signs for A2A Leonessa Brescia, which returned to the court less than 24 hours after its scrimmage in Treviglio. At the PalaComisa in Pisogne, the Brescia team held its own against Pallacanestro Trieste, a team that will compete in the upcoming Serie A championship.
In front of a packed crowd, Brescia held its own throughout the game against the team coached by Taccetti, a familiar face in the city’s basketball scene. The Leonessa consistently responded to Trieste’s offensive moves, gaining valuable insights from their second preseason outing.
The performance is even more impressive given the various absences. Four players were unavailable for different reasons, while Nikolic remained on the court for just over three minutes. Coach Calvani therefore distributed responsibilities and playing time among all available players, receiving promising contributions even from the younger players. It was precisely the less experienced players who showed character and effectiveness in their plays, confirming the depth of Brescia’s roster.
As in the previous friendly, the two teams each won two quarters. In the final score, however, it was Brescia that came out ahead by a single point, 85-84. While the result is secondary at this stage of preseason, it accompanies an overall positive performance against a higher-division opponent.
Among the standout players of the evening was Bazan, who scored 22 points, including four three-pointers. He also made the game-winning basket that electrified the crowd at PalaComisa. Meanwhile, the season ticket campaign officially kicks off tomorrow.
For Brescia, preseason training will continue on Wednesday, September 2, when Bazan and his teammates will take the court in Vicenza for another preseason game.
