Parma Transfer Market: A Late-Night Move Sees Zeballos Slip Away—He’ll Play in Serie A, but Not for the Ducali

Exequiel Zeballos is set to make his Serie A debut, but his destination won’t be Napoli. The Argentine winger, born in 2004, will in fact be moving to Monza, which reached an agreement with Boca Juniors in the final hours of the transfer window. In a true late-night deal, the transfer was finalized for 4.5 million euros, plus 45% of any future transfer fee.

Monza has thus managed to decisively step in for a player Napoli had been tracking for some time. The Azzurri had been in talks with Zeballos for several weeks but failed to reach a final agreement. As early as January, there had been talk of a possible transfer to Campania—a possibility that resurfaced at the start of the summer transfer window before Napoli’s management decided to abandon the pursuit.

In recent days, Celta Vigo and Parma had also expressed interest in the Argentine, but it was Monza that made the most concrete move. The Brianza-based club beat out the competition, thus providing Ivan Juric with a new addition to the offense.
