Torino and Monza are battling it out for a spot in the Coppa Italia round of 16, where Ruben Amorim’s Milan awaits the winner. The match kicks off tonight at 9:00 p.m. at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, in a clash that pits two teams looking to bounce back after a difficult start to the season against each other. Both have lost their first two Serie A matches. Ignazio Abate’s Torino made its home debut against Milan, which emerged victorious 2-1. On the second matchday, they suffered another defeat by the same score, this time on the road against Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia.

Things haven’t gone any better for Monza. The Brianza-based team began the season with a crushing 4-1 loss at the Meazza against Inter, before losing again at home to Udinese, 3-2. Their Coppa Italia campaigns, however, got off to a good start for both teams. Torino eliminated Carrarese in the round of 32 thanks to a 1-0 win secured by Giovanni Simeone. Monza’s victory was more decisive, as they defeated Avellino 3-0 with a brace from Varela and a goal from Forson.

The match will hold special significance, especially for Ivan Juric. The Croatian coach will return to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino as an opponent, having managed Torino from 2021 to 2024. While on the Granata bench, Juric oversaw 122 matches, with a record of 45 wins, 36 draws, and 41 losses. Now he’ll face his former fans as Monza’s coach, aiming to secure a spot in the round of 16.

Probable lineups:

TORINO (3-5-2): Perri; Comuzzo, Ismajli, Comert; Fortini, Fitz-Jim, Ilkhan, Vlasic, Cacciamani; Simeone, Adams. Head Coach: Abate.
