Milan Transfer Market: The Released Player Has Been Reinstated After the Failed Signing

A surprising move by Milan following the close of the summer transfer window. According to Sky, the Rossoneri have decided to reinstate Fikayo Tomori to the roster. He had been excluded from the team at the end of preseason training camp on the orders of Ruben Amorim, who did not consider him part of the new technical plan.

Now, however, the English defender is back on the roster: despite attempts by Aston Villa, Fulham, and other Premier League clubs, the Rossoneri were unable to place the player; Tomori himself insisted on staying in Milan. Furthermore, the Rossoneri were unable to sign a replacement, despite a last-minute attempt to sign Tiago Gabriel from Lecce.

Matteo Gabbia’s injury—which sidelined him due to an ankle issue that could keep him out of upcoming matches—was another factor that ultimately pushed the club to reintegrate the player. Now Tomori has a chance to convince Amorim to count on him.

As for Tiago Gabriel, negotiations with Lecce stalled over the financial gap between the two clubs: Lecce refused to lower their asking price, which exceeded 25 million euros, while Milan did not go beyond 20 million and did not make a further offer. Despite pressure from Gabriel himself—who is eager to move to Milan—and the efforts of his agent, Jorge Mendes, the deal did not go through. Amorim will therefore have to do without the reinforcement he sought to add depth to the back line.
