We’re only on the fourth matchday of the new season, but the points up for grabs at the “Luigi Ferraris” Stadium in the match between Genoa and Frosinone, scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m., are already very important. The Grifone, in fact, is still searching for its first point of the 2026–2027 season, while the Giallazzurri want to add to their points tally to draw on later should a much tougher stretch lie ahead.

Daniele De Rossi didn’t make excuses after going winless in the first three matches, but it’s an objective fact that Genoa has faced three top-tier opponents: against Napoli, they lost in the closing minutes, against Lazio they were outplayed by a Frattesi in top form, and the home collapse against Como must still be viewed in light of Como’s incredible run—they won their very first Champions League match against Leipzig by the same score as at Marassi (4-1).

On the other hand, Frosinone couldn’t have started the season any better as a newly promoted team: after a narrow 1-0 loss to Juventus, they followed it up with a sensational 3-0 victory over Fiorentina at the “Franchi” and a 3-2 win in the head-to-head clash between relegation contenders against Venezia. In between, they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia, losing to Sassuolo only in a penalty shootout. The Ciociari have been relegated on their first attempt in each of their first three appearances in Serie A: this is another reason why they know full well that every point can be crucial.
