Lazio Transfer Market: Mauro Icardi Is Almost a Done Deal—Talks with Gennaro Gattuso

Talks between Mauro Icardi and Lazio have resumed. According to reports from Sky, the Biancocelesti have stepped up their efforts to sign the former Inter striker, who is currently a free agent after leaving Galatasaray in June.
Rumors suggest that the player’s agents are in contact with Lazio officials to try to reach an agreement. The player is looking for a team and, compared to the summer transfer window, seems more inclined to accept the Serie A club’s offer; however, at the moment, the proposal made by Claudio Lotito’s club still does not meet his demands.
Therefore, the green light is still needed not only from the player but also from Gennaro Gattuso himself, who in recent weeks had not been entirely convinced about the player’s arrival. According to reports, there could soon be a face-to-face meeting between the Calabrian coach and Maurito to determine whether they are on the same page and whether the striker intends to commit to Lazio’s project.
Icardi has scored over 250 goals in his career, including 121 in Serie A while playing for Sampdoria and Inter. With Inter, he was the league’s top scorer twice, in 2015 and 2018. During his career, he also played for Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he won two league titles and two French Cups.
