A massive outpouring of solidarity has rallied around Max Parisi, a beloved 57-year-old radio host and announcer who has been battling pancreatic adenocarcinoma for about two years. After surgery, the disease unfortunately progressed further with the appearance of liver metastases. Parisi therefore decided to travel to the United States in search of new treatment options. This decision led him to ask for help—something he admitted doesn’t come naturally to him. However, the many expressions of support he received deeply moved him.
The United States, moreover, holds special significance in Parisi’s life. Born in Siena in 1968 and having moved to Cuneo when he was just two years old, over time he developed a strong bond with California: he married a woman from San Francisco, and their union produced two daughters, Sophia and Vivienne.
His professional career, on the other hand, is inextricably linked to radio. This calling first emerged as early as elementary school, when a teacher, impressed by his ability to read aloud, wanted the principal to hear him because that child already seemed to have the tone of a professional broadcaster.
The microphone truly became his profession in 1989, when Parisi began commentating on volleyball and soccer in Cuneo. From the radio stations in the province of Cuneo, his career path continued first to Turin and then to Milan, where he began collaborating with various national radio stations and major news organizations.
