Parma: Cuesta is struggling; two former Torino players are being considered as replacements

Carlos Cuesta’s job is on the line at Parma. According to Sportitalia, the Spanish coach is under scrutiny following the team’s difficult start to the season, having earned just one point in their first four Serie A matches.

Cuesta is putting everything on the line in the league match against Genoa before the break: if they lose, Parma could decide to replace him. The club’s management has reportedly already identified two leading candidates, both former Torino coaches.

The first is Davide Nicola, currently without a team following his most recent stint at Cremonese. The other candidate is Roberto D’Aversa, who led Torino to safety last season after taking over from Marco Baroni following 26 matchdays.

Cuesta had this to say about the loss to Como: “There are some positive signs: in my opinion, we played well in the first 5–10 minutes; they dominated, and we weren’t able to get past midfield. We finished the first half strong, and in the second half we had several chances that could have allowed us to tie the game. After falling behind 2–0, we managed to score and kept pushing; it’s a shame we didn’t capitalize on all our chances. Now we’ll analyze the game and improve.”
