Inter returned to winning ways in Serie A with a convincing 3-0 victory over Parma at San Siro on Matchday 6 of the league season. Sucic, Calhanoglu, and Thuram sealed the victory, ruining Gilardino’s debut on the Parma bench and allowing Chivu to keep the Nerazzurri at the top of the standings.

Inter opened the scoring in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a mix-up between Corvi and Keita: Sucic stole the ball from the Belgian and beat the opposing goalkeeper, putting the home team ahead. A few minutes later, VAR summoned referee Bonacina to the monitor for a foul by Diego Carlos on Pio Esposito in the box. The referee awarded a penalty kick, which Calhanoglu—returning from injury—converted in the 19th minute. Corvi anticipated the trajectory and nearly made the save, but couldn’t stop the Turkish midfielder’s powerful shot. Shortly after, the Gialloblù goalkeeper redeemed himself with a great save on Dimarco’s shot.

The Nerazzurri continued to press and scored their third goal in the 31st minute. Mkhitaryan set up Thuram, who curled the ball precisely into the far post to make it 3-0 with a pinpoint finish. After frequently struggling in the first halves of their recent matches leading up to the international break, Inter delivered a convincing performance, effectively sealing the deal in the first half.

The script didn’t change in the second half. Early on, Corvi denied Pio Esposito a goal, while in the 74th minute, Spence made his debut in a Nerazzurri jersey. Parma tried to cut into the deficit, and in the 75th minute, Romero had a good chance but failed to hit the target. The Ducali striker then squandered another chance late in the game. When the final whistle blew, it was a celebration for Inter: the 3-0 win over Parma brought their total to 16 points and allowed the Nerazzurri to move into sole possession of first place in the standings.
