Flavio Cobolli can celebrate—his qualification for the ATP Finals is a done deal

Flavio Cobolli can finally celebrate: the Italian has mathematically qualified for the 2026 ATP Finals in Turin. Casper Ruud’s victory over Spain’s Rafael Jodar in the second round of the Paris Masters 1000 secured his spot. The Norwegian won in two sets, 6-3, 6-4, eliminating one of the Roman tennis player’s last remaining potential rivals in the race for the season-ending tournament.
This qualification feels even more special because it came without him even stepping onto the court. Cobolli had, in fact, already announced his withdrawal from the Paris tournament due to a left thigh muscle injury sustained during the Vienna Masters 1000, in his match against Matteo Berrettini. This decision was made to avoid taking further risks and to focus on his recovery ahead of the most important event of his season.
For the 24-year-old Roman, this will be his first-ever appearance at the ATP Finals, scheduled at the Inalpi Arena in Turin from November 15 to 22. This is a major milestone for a player who took another significant step forward in 2026, winning the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco and achieving results that have cemented his place among the best on the tour.
Cobolli currently holds sixth place in the Race, which effectively becomes fifth given the absence of Jannik Sinner, who is already out of contention for the rest of the season. The Roman thus joins the first four players who have already qualified: Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, and Daniil Medvedev. The final three spots remain to be filled to complete the field of eight players for the tournament.
