Monza Breaks the Ice; Vero Volley’s First Win of the Season

Vero Volley Monza breaks the ice and claims its first league victory of the season. The team from Brianza defeated Acqua Sant’Anna Cuneo on the road at the end of a hard-fought match that lasted over two hours and was decided only in a tiebreaker. The final score was 2-3 (21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 28-26, 13-15).
This was an important victory, especially for team morale and their standing in the standings, as they fight to avoid relegation. Monza had managed to take a two-set lead but then faced a comeback by the home team, who were able to tie the match and force a fifth set. At the decisive moment, however, the Brianza-based team regained its composure and determination, managing to close out the match and bring home two precious points.
The star of the evening was Diego Frascio, named MVP of the match. The Vero Volley opposite hitter scored 27 points, with a 54% attack success rate, reaffirming his status as the team’s primary offensive threat. The only player to outperform him was Nathan Feral, Cuneo’s opposite hitter, who tallied 31 points.
With their away game in Piedmont behind them, Vero Volley is already looking ahead to their next match. On Sunday, November 8, at 8:30 p.m., the Brianza-based team will return to the court at the Opiquad Arena to face Valsa Group Modena.
