Olimpia is eyeing Verona to bolster its frontcourt

Mike Tobey’s future could be intertwined with that of Olimpia Milano, according to Telenuovo. The Lombardy-based club, which has had a rough start to the EuroLeague season with just one win, is reportedly considering the possibility of making a move in the transfer market to strengthen its frontcourt. Among the players under consideration is the Tezenis Verona center, a true driving force for the Gialloblù thanks to top-tier performances and numerous double-doubles.

A key factor in the deal is Tobey’s Slovenian passport, which is particularly valuable for Milan, as the team has already filled all its available slots for non-EU players. Furthermore, the big man is already registered for the Italian league and would therefore not require any additional visas.

From a contractual standpoint, the former Barcelona, Red Star, and Gran Canaria player has a clause that would allow him to leave Verona if another club makes an offer, provided a rather substantial buyout fee is paid. This is a sum that Olimpia might decide to invest to secure his services.

For the newly promoted Verona team, this would be a massive loss, considering Tobey’s performance—he has been among the best players in the entire Serie A so far. The proceeds would allow sports director Bolognesi to return to the market in search of a replacement, although finding a player capable of making the same contribution to the team coached by Alessandro Ramagli would be no easy task.
