Koundé doesn’t take off necklace, game stopped in France-Poland

Rather peculiar what happened during the first half of the match between France and Poland: the linesman noticed that Jules Koundé had a necklace around his neck and called the referee back, who stopped the game.

The French defender was then forced to stop on the sidelines and, with the help of a staff member, removed the jewel. Play then resumed normally but it is still unclear how the central player managed to start the match with the necklace on.

Born in Paris on November 22, 1998, Jules Koundé grew up footballingly in Bordeaux. In 2019 he landed in Spain through Sevilla, and in the summer of 2022 he was signed by Barcelona. After the entire youth ranks, he made his debut with the French senior national team jersey in 2021 in the friendly against Wales.
