Adelaide, Jannik Sinner-Lorenzo Sonego doubles begin with a smile
Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego to the quarters in doubles
The doubles team of Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego on Wednesday gained access to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw at the ATP tournament in Adelaide, Australia.
The South Tyrolean and the Turinese defeated, at the end of a decidedly hard-fought match, the pair composed of Australia’s Matthew Ebden and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi: 7-6(1), 5-7, 10-8 the final score, with the all-Italian duo that, although not dominating (if we exclude the tie-bresk of the first set, brought home in fluency), gave the right acceleration in the decisive moments, conquering an important success to continue sharpening their weapons ahead of the Australian Open.
Sinner is also starring in Adelaide in singles: the San Candido native is scheduled to play a second-round match against Thanasi Kokkinakis on Thursday. Sonego, on the other hand, surrendered in the first round to Daniil Medvedev, complicit in a physical problem that, fortunately for him, did not recur today.
