Napoli, mortgage on Champions League quarterfinals

Napoli won 2-0 over Eintracht in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, thus mortgaging their qualification to the quarterfinals.

Napol, after a goalpost with Lozano in the 34th minute and a missed penalty with Kvaratskhelia a few moments later, unlocked the result in the 40th minute with Osimhen (with a double cancelled shortly after).

In the second half, after Kolo Muani was sent off, came Di Lorenzo’s double on a heel assist from Kvaratskhelia.

Napoli has won two Scudetti in its history, both with Diego Armando Maradona on the field: the first with Ottavio Bianchi on the bench (1986-87 season), the second with Albertino Bigon (1989-90) at the helm. Luciano Spalletti has been at the helm of the Azzurri since 2021: before him was Gennaro Gattuso.
