Marco Schwarz returns to CdM success after more than two years

Marco Schwarz’s long fast of CdM victories came to an end on Saturday on the snows of Palisades Tahoe in the United States: the Austrian, who won the giant slalom by beating overall leader Marco Odermatt by just 3 hundredths, has in fact returned to World Cup success after more than two years. In fact, his last victory dated back to January 26, 2021, in the Schladming special slalom.

Today’s is, by the way, Schwarz’s first success in a World Cup giant slalom race: a victory that came in a comeback after the fifth place in the first run, thanks to a very fast second fraction that left no chance for the day’s opponents.

As far as the Italians are concerned, Filippo Della Vite’s 12th place and Giovanni Borsotti’s 13th place are worth mentioning, with the latter able to regain as many as 17 positions in the second run thanks to his second fraction time, slower only than the one set by the race winner.
