Federica Brignone between regrets and desire for redemption
“I will try to do my best in the Super-Gs, which I care so much about.”
Having finished second in the downhill in Crans Montana won by Sofia Goggia (who also won the specialty cup), Federica Brignone nonetheless showed satisfaction, albeit amid some regrets related, however, to the cancellation of the Super-G, for her performance on the Swiss slopes. Here are her words reported by FISI.
“I’m a bit sorry that I didn’t do the Super-G in these conditions,” said the Italian champion. “I am very happy, though. I had not done so well downhill for three/four years. We were waiting for two days and normally when there are these conditions I can always do well, get active. It didn’t help the rehearsal, the conditions completely changed, and whoever was able to adapt better made the result. Next weekend there are two Super-Gs and a downhill: I will see what to do for the downhill and I will try to do my best in the Super-Gs, which I care a lot about,” he concluded.
“The tenths that separate me from the podium burn,” said instead Laura Pirovano, who finished seventh. “We race against the clock and I can’t focus on that gap. Rather, I have to think back to where I was last year and where I am now to see how much I have grown.”
“I am disappointed with the result,” said Elena Curtoni, “It was not easy to be comfortable. I struggled with visibility. That’s how it went, it was one race and there will be others. The next two weekends will be crucial and I will try to put in what I can.”
