The U.S. was the defending champion in Indian Wells
At the end of a not-so-easy match, Sinner eliminated Taylor, the defending champion at Indian Wells, flying to the semifinals, where Alcaraz, on course to become No. 1 in the ATP rankings again, awaits him.
Taylor, post-match, complimented the Italian: “I was in a good position to try to win this match, but in the end I couldn’t. Sinner, however, was the better player on the court and deserved to win the match. I think it’s a little easier to accept a defeat that way, that is, when you know that your opponent played well and deserved success,” the U.S. player’s words.
