Benoit Paire takes good advantage of invitation
Benoit Paire, who has plummeted to position number 170 in the ATP rankings, has so far made good use of the wild card granted him by James Blake, the director of the Miami Masters 1000. He did so by beating Dutchman Gijs Brouwer in two sets (6-2, 6-4) in the first qualifying round of the Florida tournament.
Thanasi Kokkinakis the next opponent for Paire, who recently won at the Puerto Vallarta Challenger in Mexico.
Five Italians are in the main draw, with Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, and Lorenzo Musetti starting in the second round, while Fabio Fognini and Lorenzo Sonego will make their immediate debuts against France’s Constant Lestienne and Austria’s Dominic Thiem, respectively.
