F1: Fernando Alonso flies, former Aston Martin Sebastian Vettel reveals what he thinks about it
The successes of his latest team are not generating second thoughts.
Sebastian Vettel piloted Aston Martin until last season, then decided to step away from Formula 1 by ceding his seat to Fernando Alonso. The colleague’s excellent results in his old single-seater, however, are not triggering regrets in the four-time world champion’s mind. Or, at least, that is what the person directly involved has guaranteed.
“Right now I’m fine in the new situation I’m in. I’m looking forward to dealing with what interests me, focusing on different questons. And I love the time I can spend at home with my children,” Vettel explained in an interview for ‘F1-Insider.’ I have no shortage of ideas, and I want to cultivate them.”
The German driver, moreover, said he was very happy with Aston Martin’s successes. “Predicting what will happen to a team within a year is always difficult,” Vettel said. “Now what prevails is my joy for the team, it’s good to see how well things are going. It was clear that compared to 2022 things would improve, but my decision did not depend on that. I don’t regret the retirement, and I’m happy for Alonso. He came from years behind the wheel of not good cars, maybe now he will experience a second youth.”
