Genoa, Alberto Gilardino makes no drama: “Bitterness, but not disappointment”
A bitter draw after a recovery by the opponents, but the coach makes no dramas.
Genoa drew 2-2 in the away match in Como, conceding the hosts’ two goals in the last half hour. However, the lack of success despite the double advantage did not faze Alberto Gilardino, who in the aftermath of the Sinigaglia match equally wanted to praise his team.
“I am not disappointed, absolutely – Gilardino assured the microphones of ‘Sky Sport’ -. Also because on the part of my players there is always the right attitude in facing matches. And that was the case today as well. We had the match in hand, but we were coming from several problems since some players had a fever yesterday.”
“The boys showed great responsibility and willingness. This for a coach is very important,” Gilardino added. “Then it is clear that there is great regret and bitterness for not bringing it home. At 2-0 we had the game in our hands, we also hit a post and had chances on the counterattack that were not taken advantage of. We struggled on Como’s long balls, and we conceded a little too much.”
The Genoa coach then explained that he did not want to focus on the Serie B standings. “The bitterness comes from not collecting the full spoils in this match. Then we know that the championship is long and full of pitfalls. We know the value of our opponents, but we have to think match by match about ourselves. Let’s not make dramas or victimhood, we must have great confidence and awareness. As we have always done,” Gilardino concluded.
