Stefanos Tsitsipas stuns over Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
Stefanos Tsitsipas impresses on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: “They remind me of Fedal, they push me to improve.”
Stefanos Tsitsipas in the press room in Barcelona, ahead of the start of his Atp 500 on Catalan soil, commented on the rising rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: “Jannik has improved so much, compared to two/three years ago. He has definitely worked hard with his team and the results are showing. In recent months he has become much more aggressive and consistent. In his being aggressive he does it judiciously without taking excessive risks and this in my opinion is the reason why he is able to get such good results,” are the words reported by Ubitennis.
With Alcaraz, Sinner has a record of three wins and three losses: “A good rivalry is developing, in some ways reminiscent of the one between Nadal and Federer many years ago, I’ve lost count…was it a decade ago? But these are two young men who are doing very well, and those who thought that with Federer leaving the scene, Nadal now going towards the end of his career, the level of play would not be the same has been proven wrong. Now the level is higher than ever and Sinner and Alcaraz have reached a great level.”
“They move in an incredible way, which at first glance makes me think it is not normal and that they risk their physical integrity; but they make it look so natural that they pushed me to improve,” admitted the Greek champion; “the level is now so high that I have to put my head down and think about working. The fact that there is so much talk about them now doesn’t bother me; I have the rivalries with players of my generation like Zverev.”
