Former Croatian tennis player Ivan Ljubicic, former coach of Roger Federer, wanted to send a piece of advice to Jannik Sinner at Sky microphones after watching his defeat against Rune in Monte Carlo: “He couldn’t handle Rune’s character situation and, in my opinion, he definitely got angry. You could tell by the way they greeted each other at the end of the match.”

“I think next time he has to react on the court,” Ljubicic explained, “showing himself, first and foremost, that when an opponent invites him into the ring he has to get in there and also throw punches. He can’t be the good guy all the time because otherwise he runs the risk of being teased. Let us remember that he lost a similar match against Tiafoe in Vienna a year and a half ago. He has to understand what happened and why he lost the match, I thought he was the favorite to win the title.”
