Charles Leclerc sees Red Bulls still a long way off
Charles Leclerc’s words
Charles Leclerc is not too satisfied with his first podium finish of the season: “Our very good qualifying lap helped put us in front, but it was not enough to keep them behind in the race. They have much more pace than us in the race. They found something that we couldn’t find. We have to try to focus on that. We are looking for more performance, to get closer in the race.”
“Honestly, the feeling is a little bit better, but seeing the gap at the end, it’s likely that they didn’t push 100 percent. So we don’t know exactly how close we got. The Aston Martin was also faster. Fernando Alonso? He pushed. I knew what his intentions were: he always tries to manage the tires at the beginning of the stint and push at the end. I tried to do the same thing. In the end he got close, but not close enough.”
