Filippo Volandri speaks out on the path of Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti
Filippo Volandri is outspoken about Sinner and Musetti
During an interview with ‘Corriere dello Sport,’ the captain of the Italian Davis Cup representative team, Filippo Volandri, wanted to take stock of the performance of Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, just days after their respective eliminations from the Internazionali d’Italia.
“I congratulated Cerundolo because he played an amazing match, played tactically to perfection. Jannik as always gave everything he had, the maximum effectiveness of his shots that day was that. Regardless of the defeat, what matters is that he looked for solutions until the end, even if he did not find them. I am sure he will learn from this experience,” the coach said about the South Tyrolean tennis player.
“Lorenzo made his debut against a friend (Matteo Arnaldi, ed.) in a derby and was good at managing the match. With Tiafoe he managed to win despite the up-and-down start. Against Tsitsipas the early game shots were crucial and he almost always managed to respond from the same tile. He should not give too much weight to this defeat because there is a lot of room for improvement. I think Musetti has a huge potential,” Volandri added about the Italian number two.
