Vincenzo Nibali’s pink jersey up for auction for Emilia-Romagna

Exactly ten years after that feat, the pink jersey with which Vincenzo Nibali put the seal on his first Giro d’Italia, winning in the snow in 2013 the Tre Cime di Lavaredo stage, the terrible climb where today’s stage ends, was auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the people of Emilia-Romagna. The charity auction was held last night in Auronzo di Cadore, Belluno province, during the ceremony to confer Nibali honorary citizenship of the Dolomite municipality.

As can be read on ANSA’s website, the “stage committee, coordinated by Massimo Panighel and Lorenzo De Martin, auctioned off the 10-year pink jersey along with the City of Stage 2023 logo, made of pine wood, signed by Nibali and biathlon champion Lisa Vittozzi. The auction will remain open until June 4 at www.regalaunsogno.org. The proceeds of the ‘3 Epic-Tre Cime Lavaredo Mtb Marathon,’ which next June 2, 3 and 4 will allow amateur cyclists to ride around the Three Peaks, touching Cortina d’Ampezzo, the villages of Val Pusteria and Comelico, with two Gpx tracks designed for road and off-road bicycles, will also be donated to the flood-affected areas.”
