Mick Schumacher: sparks between uncle Ralf and Helmut Marko
According to Ralf Schumacher, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko allegedly prevented his nephew Mick, until last year at Haas, from joining AlphaTauri’s satellite team, and had therefore harshly attacked the Austrian, whose retort was not long in coming.
“I have no problem with the name Schumacher. For me Michael is the greatest and I talk regularly with Ralf. But on one thing he seems a bit confused to me: our F1 program is based on performance and not on marketing,” Marko told OE24, referring not too veiledly to Mick, who moreover is currently Mercedes’ third driver.
According to Marko, the great Michael’s son’s entry into Formula 1 was thus caused solely by his very heavy surname, and paradoxically for the same reason he excluded him from the Red Bull driver program, clearly not deeming him up to the task.
