Tiémoué Bakayoko does not renew with Chelsea
Tiémoué Bakayoko’s troubled Chelsea adventure is over. The French midfielder, who has played on loan at AC Milan for the past two seasons, has reached the end of his contract with the Blues and the London club has made it known that he will not be renewed.
Bakayoko, 29 years old next August 17, joined Chelsea in 2017-2018 coming from Monaco, with whom he had just won Ligue 1. With the Blues that season, which was also the only one in which he actually played with them, he won the FA Cup and in the Premier League he totaled 29 games and 2 goals.
Swamped by criticism, he spent the next five years on loan, mostly in Serie A. He spent a first season at AC Milan, then returned to Monaco for a year, then a season at Napoli and finally two seasons at the Rossoneri, where, on the fringes of Stefano Pioli’s choices, he won last year’s Scudetto but in two years collected only 17 Serie A appearances.
