ATP Queen’s, Lorenzo Musetti clears first hurdle
Lorenzo Musetti in the second round at Queen’s
Lorenzo Musetti made it through the first round of the Queen’s Championship: beating in two sets, with scores of 6-4, 6-2, Britain’s Jan Choinski, who came from the qualifiers.
The difference in values on the court between the Carrarino, No. 16 in the rankings, and his opponent (No. 167) was clear from the first exchanges, although a small slip-up by Musetti in the fourth game of the first set put the Polish-born athlete back in the game. Regaining the break in the seventh game, however, Musetti never looked back, flying to a winning conclusion to a match that lasted a total of one hour and fifteen minutes.
Waiting for the representative of tricolor tennis in the second round will be a much more difficult but not impossible opponent, ATP number 35 Ben Shelton, who defeated J.J. Wolf 7-6(4), 7-6(2) in the first round.
